Wing Keeper ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Wing Keeper mobile application and associated services (the "Service").

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Password (stored securely using industry-standard hashing)
• Pilot certificate information (optional)
• Subscription tier and billing status

Flight Data

When you log flights or import them from FlightAware, we collect:

• Flight dates, times, and durations
• Departure and arrival airports
• Time categories (PIC, SIC, instrument, cross-country, night, etc.)
• Landings (day and night)
• Aircraft tail numbers and types
• Flight remarks and notes
• IRS classification categories

Aircraft Details

When you add aircraft to the Service, we collect:

• Tail number, make, model, and year
• Maintenance records and inspection dates
• Airworthiness directive tracking information
• Aircraft notes and documentation

Financial Data

If you use expense and revenue tracking features (Pro tier), we collect:

• Expense descriptions, amounts, and categories
• Revenue entries and amounts
• Lease and owner report data

Usage Data

We automatically collect:

• Device information and operating system
• Feature usage patterns and interaction data
• Error logs and performance data
• Session information and access timestamps

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Compute and display your FAA currency status (passenger, IFR, night, flight review)
• Generate tax reports, annual summaries, monthly reports, and CSV exports
• Process flight data for AI-powered summaries and spending insights (Pro tier)
• Synchronize flight data with FlightAware when you enable this feature
• Calculate profit and loss reports for your aircraft
• Send important account notifications and service updates
• Diagnose technical issues and improve Service performance
• Enforce our Terms of Service and protect against misuse

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using the following measures:

• Database: All user data is stored in a PostgreSQL database with access controls and regular backups
• Sessions: Authentication sessions are encrypted and managed securely
• API Security: All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
• Passwords: User passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text
• Access Controls: Your data is accessible only to you through your authenticated account

While we implement reasonable security measures, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

4. Third-Party Services

FlightAware

When you enable FlightAware sync, we share your aircraft tail number(s) with FlightAware to retrieve your flight data. FlightAware's use of your data is governed by FlightAware's Privacy Policy. We only retrieve flight data associated with your registered aircraft.

OpenAI (AI Features)

When you use AI-powered features (Pro tier), portions of your flight data and financial information are sent to OpenAI's API to generate summaries and insights. Specifically:

• Flight details (dates, airports, durations, categories) may be shared for flight summary generation
• Expense and revenue data may be shared for spending analysis
• Data sent to OpenAI is used solely for generating your requested AI content
• OpenAI's data handling is governed by their Privacy Policy and API data usage policies

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information or flight data to third parties. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service operation: With third-party services described above (FlightAware, OpenAI) solely to provide requested features
• Legal requirements: When required by law, regulation, or legal process
• Safety and protection: To protect the rights, property, or safety of Wing Keeper, our users, or the public
• Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with appropriate notice to users

6. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time
• Export: You can export your flight data, financial records, and reports using the Service's CSV export and backup features
• Correction: You can edit or update your data at any time through the app
• Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the address below
• Portability: Your exported CSV files are in standard formats compatible with other tools and services

7. Cookies and Sessions

Wing Keeper uses session cookies for authentication purposes. These cookies are essential for maintaining your logged-in state and ensuring secure access to your account. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

Session cookies are automatically deleted when you log out or when your session expires.

8. Children's Privacy

Wing Keeper is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@wingkeeper.app.

9. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes or enforcing our agreements).

Anonymized and aggregated data that cannot be used to identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytical and service improvement purposes.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the Service or by sending you an email notification.
